Meditation is the cornerstone of conflict reconciliation. Well, that's the thesis of our work here. :)
The conflict within us needs to be worked through before we can even even begin to recognize the problems within others.
"You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye."
- Jesus Christ, Matthew 5:7
Why don't we look within? Well, it seems we're just so programmed to look outside to identify a source of conflict.
Little do we acknowledge what we're reacting to in others is a direct projection of what we're feeling inside us.
Existence is a hall of mirrors. Meditation, however, is the process of shattering these mirrors, collapsing our constructs, realizing the source of conflict within us.
The reactive buck stops with us.
This wisdom of tuning our attention inward is not new...this wisdom has been around since the beginnings of civilization...but we need to remind each other, and more importantly remind ourselves, to be vigilant each and every moment we find ourselves reacting to, and judging, let alone condeming, those around us.
